CELLULITIS: is characterized by the accumulation of aqueous, lipid and fibrous material in the tissues. It affects almost exclusively the female sex. The most part of women perceives cellulitis as mainly cosmetic damage. In reality it is very often the indicator of a concomitant illness, particularly of venous insufficiency. In this case the removal of waste substances from the tissues is impaired, thus causing local inflammation, stagnant water retention and accumulation of fat and fibrous tissue. Over time, this phenomenon causes the appearance of so-called orange peel skin. Also diabetes mellitus and obesity favor the onset and progression of cellulite. Usually affects the buttocks, thighs and sometimes the abdomen. It is also favoured by the contraceptive pill.
USEFUL PLANTS: Ananas comosus (Pineapple), Centella asiatica (Centella), Cola nitida (Cola), Fucus vesiculosus (Seaweed), Hieracium pilosella (pilosella), Ortosiphon stamineus (Ortosifon or Java tea), Paulinia cupana (GuaranĂ ), Vitis vinifera (Vine).
