ACNE VULGARIS: Acne usually occurs during adolescence and manifests as pimples, more or less numerous and large, which occur mainly on the face and on the shoulders. The acne pimples usually are infected and inflamed sebaceous glands containing small amounts of pus and surrounded by a ring of reddish inflammation, which almost always burst and disappear within a week. Acne and pimples are caused by bacterial infection of the sebaceous glands, favoured by hormonal imbalances, poor nutrition and genetic factors.
USEFUL PLANTS: Arctium lappa (Burdock), Eugenia cariophyllata (cloves), Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea tree oil), Propolis, Thymus species (Thyme).
