CONTACT DERMATYTIS: is an inflammatory/allergic disease of the skin characterized by redness, swelling and itching due to contact with foreign substances to which the body is allergic. This trouble is particularly common in the hands because they are most frequently in contact with foreign substances, but can affect any other area of the body.
USEFUL PLANTS: Aloe vera (Aloe) as a gel, Calendula officinalis (Marigold), Ginkgo biloba (Ginkgo), Glycyrrhiza glabra (licorice), Oenothera biennis (Evening Primrose), Perilla frutescens (Perilla), Ribes nigrum (blackcurrant).
ACNE VULGARIS: Acne usually occurs during adolescence and manifests as pimples, more or less numerous and large, which occur mainly on the face and on the shoulders. The acne pimples usually are infected and inflamed sebaceous glands containing small amounts of pus and surrounded by a ring of reddish inflammation, which almost always burst and disappear within a week. Acne and pimples are caused by bacterial infection of the sebaceous glands, favoured by hormonal imbalances, poor nutrition and genetic factors.
USEFUL PLANTS: Arctium lappa (Burdock), Eugenia cariophyllata (cloves), Melaleuca alternifolia (Tea tree oil), Propolis, Thymus species (Thyme).
